Significance of Diwali

According to Hindu tradition, Diwali commemorates Lord Rama’s return to the kingdom of Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile. To celebrate his return, the people of Ayodhya lit thousands of oil lamps, illuminating the entire city. Since then, lighting diya lamps during Diwali has become a symbol of joy and hope.
