Guru Purnima - Day of the Spiritual Teacher

July 1, 2026 Babaji Ashram, Mąkolno 129

Guru Purnima is one of the most important festivals in the spiritual tradition, especially revered in the Haidakhan lineage. This full moon day is dedicated to expressing gratitude to spiritual teachers — the gurus — who illuminate our path through their teachings and example.

Significance for Babaji Ashram

In our ashram, Guru Purnima holds special meaning. It is a day when we honor and celebrate Sri Haidakhan Babaji — the Great Teacher who brought the teachings of kundalini yoga and Advaita Vedanta to the modern world. His presence and teachings continue to shape the lives of thousands of disciples worldwide.

The guru-disciple tradition, known as guru-shishya parampara, is the foundation of spiritual transmission. Guru Purnima reminds us of this sacred bond between teacher and student, built on devotion, trust, and the longing for truth.

Evening Ceremony

On this special evening, we will come together in the spirit of gratitude and devotion. The ceremony will begin with aarti — the ritual prayer offered to the guru, accompanied by chanting and the sound of bells. This will be followed by satsang, during which we will reflect on the teachings about the guru-disciple tradition and its significance in daily life.

Participants will have the opportunity to make symbolic offerings and practice padapranam — bowing at the guru’s feet as an expression of deepest devotion. The evening will conclude with collective meditation held in the glow of the full moon, symbolizing enlightenment and the spiritual light that guides us through life.
